Today was eventful, in that I am released from therapy at mental health! My therapist is leaving her practice and doing something else entirely. We had a very good visit. She even enjoyed the 'continuing' story of how I met my husband through the pen-pal scrapbook that I brought that I made many years ago in 1985 I think it was. As well as the 2 pieces of published poems that I sent to the editor of the caregiving magazine, "Mainstays" while in 2004 when my husband was ill. She thouroughly enjoyed them both.
We both said our goodbyes and off I went happily off to the next errand I had to do which was the USPS. Unfortunately, in order for me to mail anything securely I have to use the actual Post Office because where I live their isn't one.
It only took 5 minutes for the bus driver to drop me off and for me to give my piece of mail to be taken care of and off I went back outside to sit and wait for the next bus to come and pick me back up. So, I recently bought a portable c/d player with a FM radio on it and so I was listening to the current c/d in it which was, Taylor Swift.
I watched various people coming and going while I enjoyed listening and then when this one gentleman came my way, I took one earpiece out to listen to what he needed help with, so I thought. And he was asking me if I needed help? I showed him my STS ticket instead, telling me I am waiting for "Special Transportation. " Which is a division of the City of Charlotte for the elderly and the handicapped like myself.
So, I proceeded to put my earpiece in my ear again and continued to listen to my c/d player and enjoy the little sprinkles of rain and greenery. We have had an abundance of rain lately in Charlotte which is unusual for here. It is very pretty.
Eventually, my bus came and out came the earpieces and then I backed up, apparently into an ant hill because the driver said so. She was trying to brush them off with her hand while I was pushing my rolling walker on the bus lift. I hoped I knocked some ants off too before the driver pushed the button for the lift to engage me up.
So, I preceded to roll into my seat and sit down securing the seat belt. My walker was secured and my bag was put between my feet and my ticket was given to the driver before I got into my seat or just now. Now, we were on our way to Panera to eat.
I had already eaten at the cafeteria that morning around 11 am unexpectedly as last month an appointment was mistakenly scheduled instead of for the following July 2 @ 2:45pm like it should have been as I just found out today. I have been learning about how we all can make mistakes and ways to help to make sure not to on my part when I might still have memory issues but I had been doing well. But, happily on this time. It wasn't on me. Things do happen. I did have to see my therapist after all this afternoon which went really well and for the last time even.
I enjoyed Panera very much as usual and even had some to bring home. Enjoyed watching people and taking my time, again, waiting on my bus. Another gentleman asked me if I was waiting for my transportation. Again, I said, "Yes and thank you. "
It was getting chilly but the sun was trying to peek out. Sometimes, people get on my nerves when I was making a beeline to my bus with my walker and I was at the handicapped parking ramp with the diaganal lines and this man just cut right in front of me and all he said was, "whoops" and didn't even care..
I do have brakes on my walker..In the 'old days' of mental health therapy, I wouldn't have managed my emotions so well. But, I am a success story now. Thank you to His grace and mercy and what I have done to help myself and continuing to do. It is frustrating that other people think some of us are invisible.
Now, I am home, with my cat Charleen trying as usual to get my attention. That is all for now but my hugs, love and prayers always from me. :)
